My story

When I was a competitive rower, I was out of my comfort zone many times. Those were the moments that I learned to truly stretch myself.

I’ll admit there was a part of me that wondered how I was going to accomplish the next set of milestones, but I knew my team was there to help me along the way. Retreating was never an option.

I was committed to facing the challenges before me. That’s why I joined the team. With time and effort, what was once difficult became easy. Performing beyond my capabilities meant saying “yes” to the challenges. And those moments were uncomfortable.

It was not always pretty. I made many mistakes along the way. But the lessons I learned were priceless. And they affected other parts of my life, too.

I never sought perfection. Instead, I was seeking excellence and was driven to be the best I could be. The motto I embraced was, “If it’s uncomfortable, then I ought to be doing it.” That insight was very liberating.

I knew there were two areas that needed my attention: my mental game and my focus. I’m proud to tell you the payoff has been significant.

I found that visualizing my desired outcomes began to change my brain. Instead of the anxiety and dread about having to push myself to the max, I showed up at competitions with confidence. My focus began to change in a positive direction. The glass was now half full instead of half empty.

Instead of feeling anxious and having nervous energy before my races, I was focused, prepared, and ready to go!

My inner training gave me the tools to dissolve my doubts, fears, and worries in advance of my events. I found that, combined with proper training, clearing my negative blocks impacted my performance significantly more than doing either one alone.

At first I was skeptical about using the Emotional Freedom Techniques to shift my mindset. I became a believer when I experienced my own personal results while working with fellow athletes and watching them get past their barriers.

I made a commitment to dedicate the rest of my professional life to sharing the importance of mindset with my clients. My entire perspective about being, living, and doing has been transformed.

I have worked with thousands of private clients, spoken in front of numerous groups, and have created the Expert Sports Performance System™, a series of seven vital steps to create the mindset for reaching peak performance with confidence.

By using my approach, my clients have developed the winning mindset to reach their athletic goals without inner struggles. I want that for you, too! No athlete needs to hold back or just tough it out. I know it doesn’t have to be a struggle for change to occur.

What makes me different from other sports performance consultants?

My years as a therapist and an athlete make me uniquely qualified to assist you in reaching your performance milestones. I am a Sports Performance coach of champions. My purpose is to help you develop the mindset to reach your peak potential. As a psychotherapist since 1985, I know how to identify core issues—the challenges that are getting in the way of your game—and how to tackle them with a laser-focused approach.

I help clients reframe their thoughts and transform their focus by using a variety of proven tools that work rapidly and effectively. Included among these tools is how to apply positive psychology and the Emotional Freedom Techniques. I know how to get results that put you at the top of your game, breaking barriers without struggle!

My success rate is so impressive because I’m very selective about who my clients are. I work only with athletes who are serious about achieving their goals. These athletes take a no-excuses approach to doing whatever is necessary to be at the top of their game.

Who do I work with?

My clients are serious, elite athletes—just like you—who are committed to doing whatever is necessary to achieve their dreams. Like you, they recognize they have what it takes to be a winner but may feel they’re not quite reaching their maximum potential. Something has been holding them back, often leading to frustration with their performance.

Can YOU relate? Do you know you have more to give? Do you know what to do and try to tough it out, but you just can’t seem to get past a certain level of success?

The elite athletes I work with recognize their desire to play at the top of their game. They are willing to do whatever is necessary to reach peak performance. While they continue to work with their coaches and trainers, my clients are not satisfied with remaining at their current level of performance. They desire to improve, and they’re ready to tackle their challenges!

Am I right for YOU?

If you are looking for a physical trainer, I can recommend some excellent people who can meet your needs. But if you are a high performance athlete looking to raise the bar by working on your inner game, I’m the consultant you want. My style is direct and to the point, delivered with excitement, compassion, and a keen sense of humor. Athletics should still be fun, and sometimes the greatest gift of all is the opportunity to laugh at ourselves!
